PHENYLARTHRITE Injection is designed for the rapid and effective control of inflammatory processes, fever, and pain in animals. It combines two powerful ingredients: phenylbutazone, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and dexamethasone, a synthetic glucocorticoid with significant anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties.

Composition

Each 100 mL of PHENYLARTHRITE contains:

  • Phenylbutazone: 18.00 g
  • Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate: 35.00 mg
  • Vehicle q.s.p.: 100.00 mL

Indications

PHENYLARTHRITE is indicated for:

  • Arthritis
  • Tendinitis
  • Articular and muscular rheumatism
  • Congestive processes
  • Hyperthermia and heat stroke
  • Inflammatory complications from traumatic or microbial conditions

Dosage Guidelines

Dosage varies by species:

  • Adult Horses:
    3 to 4 mL per 100 kg body weight by slow intravenous injection every 24 to 48 hours.
  • Foals:
    1 to 2 mL per 50 kg body weight by slow intravenous injection every 24 to 48 hours.
  • Dogs:
    1 mL per 15 kg body weight by slow intravenous injection daily (maximum daily dose: 800 mg).

Treatment Duration

  • Horses:
    Initial high doses for the first 48 hours, gradually reducing to a maintenance level. Treatment duration averages 7 days, ranging from 3 to 14 days.
  • Dogs:
    Recommended treatment duration is 3 days.

Administration Method

  • Route:
    Administer slowly via intravenous (preferred for horses) or deep intramuscular injection.
  • Aseptic Technique:
    Ensure all injections are performed under strict aseptic conditions.

Precautions

  • Administer intravenous injections very slowly.
  • Deep intramuscular injections should be performed adequately into the muscle mass.
  • Determine treatment duration and repetition under veterinary guidance.
  • Monitor for infections in cases of concurrent acute or chronic bacterial infections.

Contraindications:

  • Heart, liver, or kidney failure
  • Advanced pregnancy (last third of gestation)
  • Diabetes
